Bird Watching in Ellenbrook Fields
From Tony Bristow
“On my walk round Ellenbrook Fields yesterday the bluebells in home wood were looking spectacular
and the bird were in full song. A lot of the spring migrant are coming in now. I heard or saw Buzzard, Pheasant,
Skylark, Willow warbler, Chiffchaff, Blackcap and at least 14 singing Whitethroats setting up their territories.
A pair of Swans are setting up home on the lake. The next few weeks we should see the arrival of Swallows
and House Martins. It is always a good walk even if you don’t know the birds just enjoy their singing”.
“Monday 27th April Update on a walk around Ellenbrook Fields.
More and more warblers are coming in, as well as the Whitethroats singing, several Blackcaps and chiffchaffs are in full song and the highlight for me was to hear a Garden Warbler singing from the middle a bush which is their normal hiding position.
A Jay and a Stock Dove with several Chaffinches singing in Home Wood with
two Buzzards and a Red Kite circling nearby. A Reed Bunting was singing near the pond and a Little Grebe was on the pond.
There is always something interesting to see or hear plus butterflies are on the wing with wildflowers now starting to bloom”.
