Welwyn Hatfield Draft Local Plan
Consultation on Sites promoted through the Call for Sites – May 2019
The Draft Local Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State
for examination in May 2017. The independent Inspector, Melvyn Middleton BA
(Econ), DipMgmt MRTPI appointed to examine the plan, has already held a number
of hearing sessions and has asked the council to investigate if there is any
scope for additional housing sites to be identified as the Draft Plan does not
meet the objectively assessed need for housing.
The council carried out a Call for Sites in January and
February 2019. Over 140 sites were promoted for housing, employment, mixed
use or other forms of development.
The council is inviting comments on the sites promoted
through the Call for Sites 2019. Consultation is taking place over a six week
period, commencing on Tuesday 7th May and ending at 5pm on Tuesday 18th June
The best way to comment on the promoted sites is online via
the consultation portal. A user guide will be available on our website. Once on
the portal you can view and download documents, follow the links to the sites
promoted in the towns, villages and rural areas within the borough and comment
(Please note, the main council website will be undergoing maintenance over the weekend of 11th and 12th May 2019. We apologise if this causes any inconvenience. The above link should still work over this period).
Alternatively, you can complete and return a response form
by email to email@example.com
or by post to: Planning Policy, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, The Campus,
Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6AE.
Please make sure you use a separate form for each site you
