On Wednesday 12th December 2018, members of the EARA Committee attended Hatfield Town Council offices and spoke at the full council meeting.
We discussed two issues in our allotted time:
Firstly progress on sourcing funding for Playground Project at Ellenbrook Recreation Ground
The council’s response was that they confirmed that they fully support draft plans drawn up by Groundworks. They have sourced part of the funding and are actively pursuing other funding streams and will keep EARA informed.
The public donations on Mike Izzards Just Giving page currently stands at circa £3500, and a further £3000 has been pledged from Paul Zukowskyj (Lib Dem Councillor £1000) and Gascoyne Cecil Estates (Hatfield House £2000). The committee are also pursuing other commercial funding opportunities
The second issue was regarding the planning application to build 1100 home on Ellenbrook Fields.
We informed the committee of our concerns about this development which will result in the loss of most of the promised Country Park, and in particular the failure to follow through with the Legal Agreement (Section 106) that gifted all of this park to Hatfield Residents.
I am pleased to report that they unanimously have committed to objecting to this planning application when it comes to the planning hearing at Welwyn Hatfield Borough Councils Development Control Meeting shortly - Date to be advised
